The historical advance of Haitian NT in Concacaf Gold Cup 2019 has forced Vietnam NT to go on a slump on FIFA table.
Recently, the International Federation of Association Football FIFA has published June 2019’s FIFA rankings where there are a lot of unexpected changes. In particular, the national team of Vietnam rose to 96th place in the world with 1232 points. This is the highest ranking Vietnam had ever reached for the past 20 years, before that they seated at 84th place in 1998.
However, Vietnam NT just kept this historical ranking for less than 2 weeks as a 'strange' squad of Central America jumped up with a big score, leading Vietnam NT fall to the 97th in the world.
At Concacaf Gold Cup 2019, Haiti is pooled together with Costa Rica, Bermuda and Nicaragua at Group B. Despite being underestimated, Haiti has made surprise by winning all 3 group-matches with 9 points, scored 6 goals and only conceded twice.
After 3 group-matches in 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup, Haiti has won 47.7 more points into 1266.7. With this score, the Central American team climbed up 11 places 101 to 90 in the world.
Vietnam NT still remains its 15th rank in Asia. Therefore, Park Hang Seo's side is still securing a slot in seed group 2 at the 2022 World Cup Qualifiers held on July 17 in Malaysia.
