Goalkeeper Filip Nguyen said that the Vietnamese citizenship procedures have been submitted and he is waiting for the approval of authorities.
Vietnamese-Czech professional footballer posted on his personal website that he completed the citizenship documents and he will be able to come back to Vietnam immediately after their confirmation.
“I want to inform fans something they might be eager to know: With my beloved dad’s support, I submitted the citizenship documents. My file follows all of Vietnam’s requirements.”
“Currently, I am waiting for approval from the authorities to accept my application so I can put on a Vietnam red jersey! Please join me in this joy and hope it will come soon so I have a chance to realize my dream and my desire to contribute to my homeland," the 26-year-old wrote on Facebook.
If the procedures are approved early, Coach Park Hang Seo will be happy about his goalkeeper position. Earlier, the Vietnam Football Federation revealed that it would soon summon the Czech goalie to play in Vietnam.
Last season Filip Nguyen was the best goalkeeper in the Czech League and he is maintaining that high level, earning The Man of the match. That is also the reason why Slovan Liberec quickly renewed the contract for two more years.
There are about 3 weeks left to the battle against Malaysia and Coach Park will have plenty of time to prepare after VFF’s decision to postpone the V-League round 25 until October 19.
