Bangkok United, which finished second the Thai League last season, wants to recruit three Vietnamese players: Van Toan, Cong Phuong, and Xuan Truong, according to assistant coach Panupong Wongsa.
“A talented player but Xuan Truong was unsuccessful in Buriram because he didn’t fit into that team’s strategy. Buriram prefers a physically strong midfielder, like a destroyer, to a creator. I believe Bangkok United will be an appropriate destination for Truong,” Panupong told the media.
“We also want to have Cong Phuong or Van Toan. Both are small but fast. We will keep an eye on them until the next transfer window.
Panupong Wongsa was a member of the Thai national team which defeated Vietnam 3-1 in the AFF Cup 2012. He was also named in the tournament’s best XI.
Bangkok United owns Thammasat stadium which hosted the World Cup 2022 qualifier between Vietnam and Thailand on Thursday night.
