Hanoi FC coach Chu Dinh Nghiem said their performance was better but they were still not lucky enough to advance to the finals of the 2019 AFC Cup.
Hanoi FC entered the game on Wednesday against North Korea’s SC April 25 with a nothing-to-lose spirit after their disappointing 2-2 draw in the first leg. However, Van Quyet’s squad faced many challenges from the home team with an impressive home record, even though they found some chances to score in the second half. The game ended with no goals scored.
The second leg’s 0-0 draw caused Hanoi to crash out of the tournament. Hanoi’s coach could not hide his regrets:
“We deserve to move on because we put on a better display in both halves. But that is football. Hanoi played better without a win. We can’t blame for the home team (time-wasting), we were just unlucky.
From this, Hanoi FC will learn a lesson in this international tournament and we will maintain our determination in the next season,” Chu Dinh Nghiem told the media.
Hanoi FC players will return to Vietnam for V-League and the National Cup. Quang Hai, Duy Manh, and Hung Dung will join the Vietnam National Team for their 2022 World Cup qualifier against Malaysia on Oct 10.
